Yogurt: Which brands are breakfast-worthy and which should be launched?

As a teenager who eats yogurt almost every day for breakfast, I’ve done my share of trial and error to figure out which brands and flavors of yogurt are amazing and which shouldn’t be thrown away for a second. glance. In this article, I’ll discuss both the taste and health benefits of different brands of yogurt and give them ratings – so you know which ones are worth spending!

1. Tillamook

Tillamook has always been one of my favorite yogurt brands. The texture is not too thick, unlike some Greek yogurts, and it’s perfect to accompany fruit or even on oatmeal. Each six-ounce container contains approximately nine grams of protein and twenty-one grams of sugar. Nine grams is great protein, but that sugar could be your enemy if you’re looking to eat healthier for breakfast.

Favorite flavors: California peach, Oregon strawberry, lime

Tillamook also recently launched a new creamery collection, which includes swirled containers in two flavors. My current favorite is the raspberry and plain mix. The dairy collection contains less sugar and more protein!

Rating: 4/5

2. Fage

Fage is another solid staple if you’re looking for a healthy breakfast yogurt. It’s much thicker than Tillamook because it’s a Greek yogurt, but it tends to lean towards the healthier side. Although I don’t have the exact numbers, Fage yogurt tends to be very high in protein (I once had a container with 18 grams of protein!) and lower in sugar. Additionally, Fage provides its mixes in a separate container from the yogurt. It’s really nice, because you can decide how much flavor you want in each bite.

Favorite flavors: plain, blood orange

Rating: 5/5

3. Yes from Yoplait

Yes by Yoplait is a brand that I recently discovered and that I really appreciate. It’s French yogurt, not Greek, so it’s not very thick at all. While I wouldn’t call Yes the healthiest yogurt, the protein content is quite low and the sugar content is quite high – it’s a great afternoon snack when you’re craving something sweet. Yes has a wide variety of flavors, and even has some alternative coconut dairy flavors like mango and strawberry for anyone who is vegan or lactose intolerant.

Favorite flavors: Lemon, Mango (vegan), Vanilla

Rating: 4/5

Yes also has apple cinnamon oatmeal flavor, where there is apple cinnamon oatmeal and yogurt in the same container. Totally recommend if you’re looking for something new to try for breakfast – it’s the perfect combination of oatmeal and yogurt.

4. The Farmer

La Fermière is another French-style yogurt that I love, but this one is still a treat from time to time. While the yogurt itself is really tasty and very high quality, if you’re looking to stay super healthy, I’d skip this one. La Fermière is full of sugar and fat, and very low in protein. I keep this brand in my fridge for an occasional dessert or just if I want to treat myself to something fancy. I’m not trying to discourage you, this yogurt is really tasty and its texture is out of this world.

Favorite flavors: Mango Passion Fruit, Orange Blossom Honey

Rating: 3/5

5. Chobani

Chobani, another solid base yogurt. Almost all flavors of Chobani are tasty and they are all very high in protein, ranging from 10-12 grams in each container I’ve had. Chobani is a great breakfast option, and not too high in sugar (they even have a low sugar option)! Chobani even has an orange and cream flavor that tastes just like the ice creams sold by the ice cream van – basically a dessert in a healthy form. Chobani is similar in texture to Tillamook, but is significantly healthier.

Favorite flavors: Peach, Oranges and Cream, Blueberry

Rating: 5/5

The final exam

There are many varieties of yogurt, and these are just a few of my favorite brands. It works as a great breakfast, snack, and dessert, and you can even have it on oatmeal. Sometimes I dip strawberries in yogurt and freeze them, which is a great healthy yogurt snack to satisfy your sweet cravings. Highly recommend trying Chobani, Tillamook and Fage for breakfast and sticking around a La Fermiere for dessert. And Yes Apple Cinnamon Yogurt is now one of my breakfast staples – don’t hit it until you’ve tried it.

Of the five yogurts I reviewed in this article, I would definitely recommend them. However, even though I’m a pretty dedicated yogurt lover, there are a few brands of yogurt that I wouldn’t choose while shopping. Yoplait is one. Even though I like Yes, generic yoplait which I find too sweet and thin – almost velvety in texture. I would leave yoplait to the kids. The second is Noosa yogurt. Although Noosa can be really tasty, especially the swirled flavor containers, it is very high in added sugar and doesn’t have many health benefits. You can find the same kind of taste and texture in Yes yogurt without the added cost of too much sugar.

Good yogurt!
