7 fun things you should do on your spring break

We’ve all been waiting for spring break to arrive, the break that signals the few weeks we have left in school before summer break begins. But, as much as we hate to admit it, it’s impossible to find fun activities to do during spring break that allow you to relax and distract yourself from school.

Whether you’re determined to have a simple and uneventful spring break or the best and funniest vacation of your life, these activities will serve as your guide to making school holidays go by quickly.

Clean out your closet

Even though my whole bedroom is immaculate, with every item in the right place, my closet is still a mess. When was the last time you thought about whether or not you Actually need or use items from your wardrobe? Cleaning and tidying up is a great way to relax and stay in the present. Plus, there’s nothing more satisfying than finally getting through a mess.

Visit a new place in your neighborhood

Spring break doesn’t always have to be some crazy adventure that only really happens in the movies. Instead, taking the time to have fun and forget about the sources of your stress can be done in your own neighborhood. Maybe there’s a cafe you’ve never tried but always wanted to go. Maybe you can’t wait to go to a new restaurant nearby with your family. Or maybe an interesting bookstore caught your eye. This break is the perfect time to push yourself to explore your city a little more.

Become a foodie

During the school week, making a home-cooked meal is something we want to to do, but just don’t have the time. But, this upcoming spring break, challenge yourself to get creative in the kitchen. There’s nothing more comforting than making yourself something delicious to eat. Cooking yourself is, by far, the best form of self-care.

Go outside

Sitting at your desk for hours, finishing homework is just a student’s life. There is no way to escape it. The students’ routines are quite monotonous. You wake up, go to school, come home, do your homework, eat dinner, take a shower and go to bed. There is hardly any time for yourself. But take advantage of the time you have during spring break. Spend time outdoors taking a walk, just sitting and admiring the nature around you, or riding a bike.

Blast your favorite show or movie

I’m a big fan of rewatching TV shows and movies. I can’t count how many times I’ve watched Gilmore Daughters, Friends, and Criminal minds. While not for everyone, as rewatching the same TV shows or movies can be boring for some, if you’re a creature of habit, this is for you!

Start logging

Setting aside time during your spring break to start journaling is a choice you won’t forget. Let’s be honest. No one – and I mean no one – is able to set aside time during their day to think about school and homework. But, spring break will give you the opportunity to spend all the time you’re willing to give up, whether it’s five minutes or twenty minutes, to be in the present and in the journal. You will be completely surprised at how journaling can calm your overwhelming worries and stress.

Spend time with your family

In addition to taking time for yourself, spending time with your family during spring break is a luxury that few students have when the weeks are very busy. Encourage your family to watch a movie together or play board games. Maybe you and your family are interested in taking a long walk together. No matter how much time you and your loved ones have to spend together, make the most of it.

Spring break is much needed and luckily it’s not too far away. All we can do is get through the little school we have left before the break and make sure we enjoy every minute of the break when it finally comes.
