Get started with Bullet Journaling

What is a Bullet Journal?

A bullet journal is a notebook that adapts to a wide variety of schedules. You can put monthly calendars and to-do list. You can also have your bullet journal as neat or as messy as you want.

What do you need to start?

Most people use a regular laptop, but many more people also use the famous Leuchtturm1917. The Leuchtturm1917 is the most popular of the many bullet journals, although it is more expensive ($19.99). You also need pens, a ruler and I use a highlighter. The pens can honestly be any pen you want to use, but I use the Ink Joy Paper Mate.

Your first pages

Your first pages should be an index. You should save at least three to four pages for your index. Your next pages can be your key, now your key can be as simple or as complex as you want. You should also have a monthly page and weekly pages for each month and week of the year.

collections

You can now access your collections. For collections, you can have anything from an expense tracker to a grocery list or even a vacation packing list. In my bullet journal, I have a future journal, birthdays, Grey’s Anatomy tracker, weight goal, sleep journal, books to read, and finally chores. These are just a few of the collections you can put in your bullet journal.

Where to find inspiration

You can find much of your bullet journal inspiration on Pinterest, Instagram, and even Tumblr and YouTube. Some people I watch on YouTube are BohoBerry, Caitlin’s Corner, and Sunday Mornings. You can even find bullet journal inspiration on Google by simply searching for bullet journals and what you want to research.
