The Great Coffee Debate: Is Dunkin’ Better Than Starbucks?

Ah, the classic, old debate about who really is the real coffee queen: Dunkin or Starbucks?

Well, there’s no doubt it must be Dunkin. Starbucks can’t even compare to its top competitor. We went to Dunkin’s and Starbucks to try what’s on their menus…see who wins!

The Battle of Matcha

I decided to go to a drive-thru for Dunkin’s and Starbucks to compare the same drink they offer.

Whether you’re a matcha fan or not, you need to know how Dunkin makes their drinks better overall!

The Starbucks version had an awful aftertaste, where even my boyfriend didn’t want to drink it. However, the Dunkin matcha drink tastes amazing and not too sweet or bitter.

Who serves the best coffee, especially the lattes?

Once again I made a trip to these stores to try the same order of an iced latte with no whipped cream or caramel. Yes, I know sugar doesn’t sound gross, but we had to test to see which coffee was better without sweets…it’s getting serious.

Starbuck’s drink was extremely bitter but Dunkin tasted sweet even without the sugar! So again, another point for our Dunkin Donuts.

Dunkin’ Classic Donuts

Dunkin has the most amazing donuts of all kinds that Starbucks could ever compare to.

So when you’re about to have your daily morning coffee, you can grab all kinds of donuts and delicious treats! What a flight!

My favorite is the vanilla frosted donut with icing…yum, now I’m hungry.

Which is the cheapest?

Starbucks large size can range from $2.10 to $4.75 depending on the complexity of the drink.

But take this… The Dunkin medium is even bigger than the Starbucks medium but cheaper!

Dunkin offers much more delicious treats with food and drink compared to Starbucks, and is less expensive.

What about the waiting time?

Other than the actual drink quality and prices, how was the service?

While I was waiting for my Starbucks order, it literally took still.

Now don’t get me wrong, I understand the wait time. They receive tons of complex orders and need to work as quickly as possible. The work is not as simple as it seems.

However, with this very very serious subject, there are no exceptions, of course. Dunkin took about 3 minutes for the same drink while Starbucks took 11.

Who has the best deals?

Now let’s fight the Dunkin and Starbucks apps.

Starbucks takes a long time to receive rewards, but unlike that coffee company, Dunkin gives out free drinks once you reach 125 points. You automatically get this number of points when you visit them for the second and third time.

At Starbucks, you get 2 points per dollar spent, while at Dunkin, you get 5. Here’s a full table of that data:

To be completely fair, I’m extremely biased on this subject.

I have a Dunkin just around the corner from my block so it’s my daily stop before class. One of the ladies working there even knows my name and order by heart since I grew up going to this Dunkin all the time.

Enough about my point of view, we would love to hear yours! Share this article with your friends and let’s win this debate once and for all.
