10 fun workouts to make you enjoy exercising

Workouts can be exhilarating, exciting and fun if you’re into it, but it’s not for everyone. While traditional working out isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, many people are trying to find new ways to make working out fun. Exercise works the muscles in your body and increases your overall well-being. Studies have shown that daily physical activity can help prevent heart disease, lung disease, and a host of other health issues.

If you think working out isn’t for you, there are definitely non-traditional ways to get you moving without having to hit the gym. Whether it’s finding a workout partner or listening to music, there’s something you can do to get yourself up every day. Another way is to find a workout that gets you excited! Here are some of our favorite exercises to get you up and moving.

1. Dance

Dancing is a creative outlet for many people and a really fun way to exercise for the whole body. It helps with balance and coordination, and can also reduce stress. A boxing session can feel like a therapy session; if you have been under a lot of stress, this can relieve you and make you feel better. Boxing is also an amazing upper body workout and great fitness option. It’s an awesome aerobic workout. It burns calories and gets your heart pumping. Boxing can also help you get stronger, tone your muscles and strengthen some less developed muscles.

4- Climbing

For all the dangerous daredevils, rock climbing can be a fun option for training. Adventurers, the brave and the crazy… rock climbing may be for you!

Rock climbing is a workout that really works your legs. It also tones your hands and arms as you cling to rocks and pull yourself up. When climbing, you use your whole body: arms, legs, triceps, quadriceps. You will feel it everywhere. It’s a great full-body workout, but also fun. This workout can be very satisfying and doing it a few times a week… you will definitely see results.

Yoga is one of those workouts that isn’t very aggressive. It doesn’t involve lifting heavy dumbbells or running three miles straight. But that doesn’t make it any less of a workout. Yoga has positive effects on your flexibility, tones your muscles and even helps develop your balance. Yoga also emphasizes mindfulness and serenity, which can make your workout feel more like an escape.

6- Trampoline training

Jumping on a trampoline can actually improve your cardiovascular health, which improves endurance, balance, coordination, and endurance. Trampoline workouts target back, core, and leg muscles. It is a very good aerobic exercise; in fact, jumping on a trampoline for 10 minutes can burn the same amount of fat as a 30-minute run. Going on a hike is one of the most enjoyable workouts there is. If you’re hiking with friends or family, getting some fresh air and observing nature can be one of the best workouts.

Hiking is a great workout for the whole body. Going for a hike reduces your risk of heart disease, improves blood pressure, and is also a great way to build muscle. It strengthens the glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, etc. It’s another way to do cardio without having to go to your local Planet Fitness.

9- Go running

Look, running can be fun if you like it. But if you don’t like running for fun, there are several ways to have fun. Listening to music, having a running buddy, or finding a track you really like can help make running a less painful experience for those of us who didn’t want to run in school. Running is one of the best cardio workouts for losing weight or building leg muscles. It’s a great way to improve your cardiovascular health and burn calories, while getting your heart rate up!

10- Create your own workout

The previous 9 workout ideas to try to make your workouts fun and enjoyable are just ideas. Maybe you don’t like any of these other ideas I listed and want to try a combination of them, or try something else to make your workouts fun.

Not everyone enjoys running, hiking, biking, etc. Maybe other workouts that people find fun could be swimming, jumping, or even strength training.

My own workouts include different cardio workouts, like running, high knees, and jumping jacks. I also do dumbbell arm workouts and those workouts really help if you stick to this plan long term. Finding an exercise program that works for you may be the change you need to train, even if it may not look like what you thought.
